Rodgers Organ Architect has allowed Classic Organs to design several new specifications that we believe are unique and exceptional to our market. We call them our Classic Organ Designs series. These organs are based upon the highest quality pipe samples, easy to use controls, and a well thought out stop list. They are based on our experience in service playing as well as our interaction with many hundreds of church organists in Indiana and Kentucky.

innovation

Digital technology allows many “opportunities” to innovate on traditional organ design. One of our responsibilities is doing what is practical and useful rather than simply doing something because you can.

There is a trend in digital organ design today that we avoid. In 1993 one organ line offered an organ that allowed the user to press a button and “change the sound” from American Classic to German Baroque. This philosophy did not meet with success as that company has since exited the organ market. In spite of this failure almost every manufacturer today builds instruments with 4 or even 5 different voicings.

We would rather use new, larger, more authentic and stereo imaged samples than fill 75 to 80% of the organ’s memory with an artificially high number of low quality sounds that would seldom, if ever, be used. Our classic designs allow you to play all styles of music and be delighted by the superior quality of the sound.

Another feature in our Classic Organ Designs series is that the organ has all of the controls and voices easily at hand. It is a simple to use, dependable system.

We also include voices in our specifications that are important to everyone. Small and large churches alike have weddings and services of celebration. Yet many small, medium and even large organs lack a big solo Festival Trumpet. Our smallest two manual Classic Organ Designs instrument features a Festival Trumpet for just such occasions. Our three manual instruments feature large Solo Divisions. These give the organist additional solo voices that are easy to use and provide a wider variety of organ colors and tonal expression.

Features such as these make the organs easy and enjoyable to use for everyone including the weekly organist and especially guests.

Classic Organ Designs instruments are priced slightly higher than Rodgers standard configuration organs but less than a new fully custom-designed instrument.

Rodgers Organ Architect allows true and full customization of Masterpiece Series instruments. After discussing possible voice selections and piston functions one of our clients exclaimed “You really mean custom, don’t you!”. Yes we do.

Customization is so much more than building a beautiful cabinet. First of all it means creating the instrument for your worship service that has the right sounds as well as piston functions and locations. Our beautiful cabinet options add the final perfect touch.

Rodgers Organ Architect guides us through choices which include:

  • Selection of Individual Voices
  • Location of Voices on the stop jams.
  • Functions and locations of pistons
  • Console options: including finishes, music rack, trim, console design, bench design and more.

customized perfection

Our custom design instruments are often perfect for churches that use the organ in a blended service. We have designed instruments that delightfully handle the variety of music found in many blended services.

A custom design can also be the perfect instrument for a church that has an historical pipe instrument or a pipe organ that was built in a particular voicing style. We can match appropriate digital voices and create a new organ that seamlessly blends pipe and digital stops.

A custom project takes extra involvement on both your part and ours. It is an exciting time when we sit down together to create a wish list of sounds and functions that meet your particular desires. The process may involve extra trips to listen to instruments and perhaps a trip to our offices for computer interaction with the factory.

Rodgers Instruments LLC of Hillsboro, Oregon builds the Trillium Masterpiece series of organs. These versatile instruments wonderfully serve the majority of our clients. All of them have easy to use methods of adding new sounds through Rodgers exclusive Voice Palette system in addition to their remarkable MIDI systems.
